Looking Back for Your Health

As we've progressed through the ages, our mechanical savvy has developed far more quickly than our digestive tracts. No amount of technology, no matter how advanced, can change the fact that our bodies still need what they have always needed, from the beginning of time.

Today, we process food so it will last for decades on a store shelf. (You can purchase an irradiated two-month-old tomato or a prepackaged snack cake that's several years old.) Scientists splice together the genes of one species into another to "custom design" a specific fruit, vegetable, or grain. Countless forms of these bioengineered foods are offered to unsuspecting consumers in America's largest grocery stores - usually without notice or explanation.

This might not sound dangerous, but think about it. This is the 21st century, with its incredible technological advancements - yet our bodies are still genetically wired to function best on the foods favored by our ancestors. These foods include fruits and vegetables grown without genetic alteration or chemical pesticides, grass-fed, hormone-free beef, poultry, and wild game, and sprouted or fermented grains.

While our hectic world moves forward, remember that the best way to achieve total wellness is to look back.

A Technology Break
Do you really need an electric juicer or a TV remote control with 40 different buttons? Technology is supposed to make our lives less complicated, but sometimes it has the opposite effect. Next time you're in your kitchen or your living room, take stock of what really simplifies your life and what just takes up space.
